JAMBATAN GANTUNG NANGA PANGAU
"The hanging bridge over Pangau River"
Handwoven ikat silk on backstrap loom, using natural dyes of akar penawar landak (fibraurea tinctorial root) and tarum (marsdenia tinctorial).
Folklore depicts the scene of the Pangau River which separates the threshold of Keling, the Prince, from the abode of his great love, Kumang. Keling crossed this bridge at Pangau River, then climbed the mountain (Demung Mugut) and finally crossed the Gelung River where Kumang lived- to take her to be his wife.
This pua kumbu may be used as a shawl or wall hanging, and it evokes happy sentiments.
